Airbus Helicopters has signed a contract to deliver three H145 helicopters to DRF Luftrettung for emergency medical services (EMS) operations, the company announced on 16 October.

The helicopters, scheduled to be delivered in 2019, will bring DRF Luftrettung’s H145 fleet to 17 aircraft.

DRF Luftrettung is a German helicopter EMS operator which provides emergency rescue and intensive care transport, including rescue winch operation, from 31 bases throughout Germany and Austria.

The H145 is powered by two Safran Arriel 2E engines and is equipped with full authority digital engine control and the Helionix digital avionics suite, which includes a four-axis autopilot for increased safety and reduced pilot workload.

Krystian Pracz, CEO of DRF Luftrettung, said: ‘The performance of the H145, especially the added value which Helionix brings to our operation, helps us to fulfil our mission every day – saving the lives of severely injured or ill patients. After being launch customer of the H145 in 2014, this is a strong signal of our mutual cooperation.’
