Enhanced Polish MCM capabilities come at a price
Construction of two serial production Kormoran II-class (Project 258) MCM vessels for the Polish Navy continues, as a number of modifications and enhancements to the original design are being implemented at the request of the future operator.
The ships are being built by a consortium led by Remontowa Shipbuilding, working with two Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) subsidiaries: Ośrodek Badawczo-Rozwojowy Centrum Techniki Morskiej (CTM) and PGZ Stocznia Wojenna.
Features of the two ships currently under construction (the future ORP Albatros and ORP Mewa) will include Saab Double Eagle Sarov systems, which should be delivered between 2021 and 2022 for integration.
