NLOS-LS future in question
US Army modernisation planners are awaiting guidance on the future of the Non Line of Sight – Launch System (NLOS-LS) component of the ‘Increment 1’ Early Infantry Brigade Combat Team (EIBCT) package.
The initial EIBCT will be the Army’s 3rd Brigade – 1st Armored Division (3-1 AD), based at Fort Bliss, Texas. The unit will begin receiving its package of modernised systems early in FY’11 and following formal new equipment training and extensive operational testing, the unit will deploy to theatre with this capability in FY’12.
