USCG delivers latest HC-130J for Minotaur retrofit
The US Coast Guard has delivered its latest HC-130J Super Hercules aircraft to L3 Technologies to replace its legacy mission system with Minotaur, the agency announced on 17 May.
The long range surveillance aircraft, CGNR 2007, will be installed with the Minotaur mission system architecture used by the US Navy and US Customs and Border Protection.
The Minotaur Mission System Suite (MSS+) retrofit will include the modification of the aircraft to incorporate radar, sensors and remaining C4IR and surveillance and equipment to allow aircrew to receive and process information for transmission to surface and shore operators.
The retrofit of CGNR 2007 is scheduled to be completed in early 2019.
