UDT Europe 2017: Legal dilemmas ahead for industry
With the increased use of unmanned vehicles in the maritime environment legal questions can arise in an environment where rules and regulations are not always clear.
The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) is seen as one of the ‘Bibles’ of maritime law however waters can be muddied when talking about vessels as they are generally assumed as being manned by a crew.
The legal queries were posed at UDT Europe by Helen Tung, a barrister and now PhD Researcher at the University of Greenwich, who argues that there are many situations now that maritime law
