Leidos has subcontracted Thales for the verification of the NATO Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) architecture on the Integrated Test Bed in The Hague, Thales announced on 20 November.

Leidos is under contract with NATO to deliver and support the BMD capability. It leads a team that includes teammates from Canada, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Turkey, the UK, and the US.

Under this subcontract, Thales will conduct the testing and integration activities necessary for the verification of the NATO BMD architecture. It will design, develop and test the interfaces with NATO’s and national weapons and sensors.

John Alfrink, VP in charge of above water systems activities, Thales, said: 'We have reached this important milestone together with our partners and see this as an appreciation of our efforts in the field of ballistic missile defence technology for more than a decade.'

The four year contract with extension options is a follow-on to the Active Layer Theatre Ballistic Missile Defence contract.
