Saab will continue support and maintenance services for the Swedish Coast Guard for an additional five years under a new contract announced on 6 November. The contract also includes an additional two year option.

Saab provides technical monitoring and the supply of spares and maintenance services for aircraft, engines, radar and other special equipment for the Swedish Coast Guard. The majority of the work will be conducted at the coast guard’s main base in Nyköping.

The company has supported the Swedish Coast Guard with a 24/7 service since 2006; both in Sweden and on international deployments.

Jonas Hjelm, head of support and services, Saab, said: ‘The coast guard's aircraft must be available round the clock, all year round. The extended agreement is a positive confirmation that we possess a unique ability to deliver a complete support solution to an operator with stringent demands for functionality and availability.’
