Russian coastal force moves through first modernisation phase
Russia's coast guard has completed the first stage of an extensive modernisation effort which has seen the regeneration of its coastal defence fleet, according to senior service officials.
According to Adm Gennady Medvedev – the head of the Coast Guard Department of the Russian Border Guard Service - in recent years the Russian Coast Guard Service completed the transition to a variety of new types of ships.
