Russia in Baltic naval command change
The Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) earlier in July decided to remove more than 50 senior officers of the Baltic Fleet from their posts, which is the Russian Federation Navy's presence in the Baltic Sea.
Among the dismissed admirals by Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu were Viktor Kravchuk, VAdm and the Baltic Fleet Commander, as well as VAdm Sergei Popov, chief of the staff.
According to an official statement of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the decision was made due to a number of errors in command, which were detected as a result of the recent inspections of the Baltic Fleet,
