Poseidon poised for future customers

Boeing has been awarded a near $359 million not-to-exceed modification to a previously awarded contract for the P-8 Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) the Pentagon announced on 30 June.

The additional funds will be for the procurement of long-lead items for the manufacture and delivery of nine US Navy full-rate production (FRP) Lot II P-8A aircraft, 16 US Navy Lot III P-8A aircraft and four RAAF FRP Lot III P-8A aircraft.

The funds will be distributed between the US Navy (61%) and Australia (39%). The original contract for the long-lead items was awarded in August 2014 with a value of around
