Not long after the People’s Liberation Navy (PLAN) launched CV-16, the Liaoning aircraft carrier, The Geobukseon was sitting in a meeting with one of the Pentagon’s longest-serving and respected policymakers. It showed him some of the latest photos and data on the ship, which had been carrying out sea trials following a top-to-bottom refit at the Dalian shipyards.
