Naval Group, MTSA sign MoU
Naval Group and MacTaggart Scott Australia (MTSA) have joined forces to support the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN's) anti-torpedo countermeasure requirements, Naval Group announced on 10 October.
The companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will see MTSA enlarge Naval Group’s defence technological and industrial base in the Australia, with MTSA to fabricate equipment compose countermeasures and/or associated launching systems for Naval Group.Naval Group Pacific is proposing an anti-torpedo countermeasures solution for Australian submarines and surface ships programmes based on its CANTO countermeasure that uses dilution/confusion multi-effects. This anti-torpedo system, fitted with its associated reaction module, CONTRALTO is already in service in the French Navy and in several blue-water navies.
Programmes being targeted include the RAN’s SEA 1000 Future Submarine, SEA 5000 Hunter-class frigates and SEA 4000 upgrade of Hobart-class Air Warfare Destroyers.
