Mauric designs ships for the future seas

As ship and vessel design look to the future requirements of international navies, French-based Mauric and the ECA Group are promoting new ship designs to meet mine countermeasure (MCM) needs.

During a September press visit of the Brest naval base in France, Mauric presented a new family of vessel designs known as the Octopoda.

The Octopoda has been specifically made to house, launch and recover various unmanned vessels which are instrumental to modern MCM operations.

France, for instance under its SLAMF (Système de lutte anti-mines future) programme, looks to replace the nation's mine hunting capability within the next decade and
