DIMDEX 2018: Minor changes to continued Qatar OPV design
British naval design bureau BMT revealed that only ‘minor’ changes were made to the design of the second batch of OPVs intended for the Qatari Coastguard.
On 13 March at the DIMDEX exhibition in Qatar, officials from the Qatar Ministry of Interior (MoI) and Turkey's Ares Shipyard signed an MoU for the construction of a second batch of three 48m OPVs of the Ares 150 Hercules design currently undergoing sea trials for the Qatari Coastguard.
In addition, a further six 24m patrol boats were signed for as part of the agreement.
