Commtact introduces Maritime Data Terminal
Commtact has developed a wireless datalink maritime solution called the Maritime Data Terminal (MDT), the company announced on 17 January.
The MDT has been designed to enable reliable and robust communication with auto-tracking capabilities in the maritime environment. With a ruggedised pedestal (two axes), it can be integrated with the platform’s inertial navigation system (INS) or to a standalone INS.
The MDT enables accurate tracking based on GPS and received signal strength indicator (RSSI). The INS unit enables tracking corrections to get maximum tracking capabilities during harsh sea conditions.
According to the company, the MDT forms the link between the vessel’s control station and an airborne platform, or any other platform that is equipped with one of Commtact’s datalink products.
