China ‘confirms’ construction of second aircraft carrier
Everyone has known for a long time that China is indigenously building a second aircraft carrier to bolster the solitary Liaoning imported from Ukraine. In the past week, firmer confirmation has occurred, as reported in the Hong Kong Commercial Daily.
The Hong Kong newspaper quoted Adm Liu Xiaogang (a former People’s Liberation Army Navy [PLAN] political commissar) and VAdm Ding Haichun (PLAN deputy political commissar). The citing of such figures on the sidelines of the National People’s Congress in Beijing amounts to official confirmation of the project.
