Belgium Naval & Robotics has partnered with Flanders Ship Repair (FSR) to bid for the programme to supply twelve mine hunting vessels for the Belgian and Dutch naval forces, the company announced on 14 November.

As a part of the agreement, if the companies' solution is selected for the programme FSR shipyard will be responsible for the manufacture of many mechanical parts and sub-assemblies, as well as the maintenance of the mine hunting vessels.

Belgium Naval & Robotics, a consortium of Naval Group and ECA Group, previously announced that its robotic mine warfare solution will integrate robotic capabilities into an MCM naval ship.

Jean-Michel Orozco, senior vice-president, mission systems, drone and cyber security at Naval Group, said: ‘This partnership with FSR illustrates our strong relationship with the Belgian defence technological and industrial base and our desire to build a long-term relationship with the Belgian and Dutch navies.’
