The US State Department has made a determination approving a potential FMS of items and services to Bahrain in support of follow-on technical support (FOTS) for the Royal Bahrain Navy Ship Sabha (FFG-90), the Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced on 26 July.

In a package worth $70 million, Bahrain has requested to buy items and services in support of FOTS for FFG-90, formerly the USS Jack Williams, which was transferred as an excess defence article to Bahrain on 13 September 1996.

The requested package also includes engineering, technical and logistics services, documentation and modification material for US Navy supplied systems and equipment and other related elements of logistics and programme support.

Bahrain intends to use this support in order to keep the ship in operational readiness status for coastal defence and security.
