Atlas, Thales combat system for German corvettes
Atlas Elektronik and Thales Deutschland have received an order to jointly deliver the combat system for the German Navy’s five (batch two) K130 class corvettes, it was announced on 21 June.
The order also includes the establishment of a test and training centre in Wilhelmshaven. Work is scheduled to be complete by 2025.
The companies' consortium - called FüWES K130 and led by Atlas Elektronik - will also adapt and update the existing combat management system software of the five K130s delivered for the first batch of vessels under a contract awarded in 2003.
The contracted solution for five new ships will be identical to the five corvettes from the first contract. The changes will only be related to obsolescence and compliancy with German regulations.
