Russian electronics specialist KRET has delivered a new podded electronic countermeasures system (ECM) for the Su-30SM multi-role fighter.

The delivery of the SAP-518SM system was announced at the MAKS-2017 aerospace and defence exhibition in Zhukovsky near Moscow. This initial delivery is to be followed by 14 more systems by year end.

These two-pod ECM systems will be for new-build Su-30SMs or an upgrade option for existing aircraft already operated by Russian Air and Space Forces (RuASF).

The SAP-518SM is an upgraded version of the SAP-518 (a derivative of the Khibini system, originally developed for the Su-34) previously equipping the Russian Su-30SM
