DSEI 2013: DARPA expands PCAS focus

The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has re-scoped the work being carried out under its Persistent Close Air Support (PCAS) programme, it has emerged.

The re-scope is taking place under a contract modification with systems integrator Raytheon, which is managing Phase 2 of the PCAS development.

The PCAS programme is intended to ‘fundamentally increase CAS effectiveness’ by allowing dismounted joint terminal attack controllers (JTACs) and aircrew to share real-time situational awareness and weapons systems data.
