US Airways reports June and 1H09 traffic for subsidiary Express carriers

US Airways has announced combined traffic figures for its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Piedmont Airlines and  PSA Airlines covering June 2009 and the first half of the year.

In June the carriers recorded 195,888,000 revenue passenger miles (RPMs), down 0.8% from the 197,471,000 RPMs in June 2008. Available seats miles (ASMs) were cut to 268,796,000 from 282,160,000 for the respective months, a fall of 4.7%.

This led to load factor increase of 2.9 percentage points (pp) to 72.9% in June 2009 compared with the 70.0% achieved in 2008. Passengers carried in June 2009 totalled 716,551, up 2.0% from 702,775 in June last year.
          
For the first half of 2009 (1H09), RPMs fell by 5.3% to 1,027,247,000 compared with 1,084,591,000 in 1H08. ASMs were cut by 4,1% to 1,554,383,000 from 1,620,769,000 for the respective periods.

The 1H09 load factor was 66.1%, down 0.8 pp from 1H08's 66.9%. Passengers carried also fell, by 1.8%, to 3,801,416 in 1H09 from 3,870,890 in 1H08.
