Pratt & Whitney will provide power for up to 40 new Bombardier CSeries aircraft ordered by Lease Corporation International as part of a contract announced today, which includes 20 firm and 20 option aircraft.

The announcement marks the third order for the PurePower PW1000G engine, which also powers the Mitsubishi Regional Jet that received its launch order from All Nippon Airways in 2008. Both aircraft are scheduled to enter service in 2013.

Pratt & Whitney has over 16,000 aircraft engines installed with hundreds of airlines around the world. Additionally, Pratt & Whitney is a leading partner in two joint venture companies that manufacture commercial aircraft engines: International Aero Engines, which makes the V2500 for the Airbus A320 family of aircraft, and the Engine Alliance, whose GP7200 engine is FAR 33 certified for the new Airbus A380.
