SkyWest Airlines, ASA combined traffic figures for January 2009

SkyWest, Inc. has reported combined January traffic for its SkyWest Airlines and Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) subsidiaries.

The two carriers recorded a 6.4% decrease in available seat miles (ASMs) for January, down to 1,723,838,782 from 1,841,971,990 in January 2009. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) for the respective periods decreased by 4.8% from 1,308,587,124 last January to 1,245,863,173 this year.

Load factor was up 1.3 percentage points to 72.3% compared with 71.0% for the same period last year. Passenger boardings for January totalled 2,444,573 a 3.2% decrease over January 2008's figure of 2,525,151.

Block hours also decreased by 6.4%, from 117,383 in January 2008 to 109,924, while departures fell to 68,588 in January from 71,731 last year, a 4.4% drop.
