RUAG has started series production of components for the Bombardier CRJ NextGen regional jet family.

"This day is a reason to celebrate. Series production for the Bombardier CRJ NextGen regional jet family is now ready to start, after preparatory work of one year, and today we can hand over to Bombardier the first aft fuselage section," said Dr. Viktor Haefeli, managing director of RUAG Technology and responsible for the "Aerostructures" business unit.

One year ago RUAG extended its collaboration with the aircraft manufacturer Bombardier and took responsibility for the overall global supply chain of series production for the aft fuselage sections of the Bombardier CRJ NextGen regional jet family.

This contract comprises the production of parts and assemblies as well as the final assembly of the aft fuselage section. The majority of parts and large components is produced by RUAG in its own facilities in Oberpfaffenhofen (D), Emmen and Geneva (CH). From 2011 on, this contract will provide jobs to approx. 160 people in Germany and Switzerland.

For years RUAG has been manufacturing parts for numerous well-known aircraft manufacturers. To the Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier, RUAG is an Authorized Service Center for the business jets "Challenger" and "Global Express". Also, RUAG produces aft fuselage sections for the Bombardier CRJ 700 NextGen, CRJ 900 NextGen und CRJ 1000 NextGen regional aircraft. The CRJ Series is the worldwide most successful regional jet family.
