Republic Airways releases June 2009 and half-year traffic figures

Republic Airways Holdings has reported preliminary passenger traffic results for June 2009 and figures for the first half of the year.

The company generated 907,386,000 revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in June 2009, a 4.5% increase from the 867,984,000 RPMs in same month last year, while available seat miles (ASMs) increased 3.5% to 1,143,823,000 from 1,105,648,000.

The load factor was 79.3% in June 2009 versus 78.5% in June 2008. The company carried 1,753,196 passengers during the month, a 3.2% increase from the 1,698,401 carried in the same month last year.

Block hours were 58,757 in June 2009, a 6.8% decline from June 2008.

In the first half of 2009 (1H09) RPMs totalled 4,865,462,000, a decrease of 1.5% compared with 4,937,096,000 in 1H08. ASMs fell by 0.8% to 6,719,607,000 from 6,667,243,000 over the respective periods.

The half-year 2009 load factor consequently fell by 1.7 percentage points to 72.4% from 1H08's 74.1%.

Block hours flown for 1H09 were 355,123, a drop of 7.0% from 381,915 in 1H08.
