Pinnacle Airlines, Inc releases April, May performance data
Pinnacle Airlines Corporation has released capacity and operational results for its Pinnacle Airlines, Inc subsidiary for April and May 2009.
Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) fell significantly (by 7.9%) to 380,279,000 from 412,916,000 in April 2008, while for the same respective months, available seat miles (ASMs) fell by 4.4% to 509,914,000 from 533,424,000. This led to a load factor decrease of 2.8 percentage points (pp) from 77.4% in April 2008 to 74.6% in April of this year. The total passengers carried during April 2009 was 870,586, a 0.8% decrease from last year's figure of 877,566.
In May 2009, RPMs were down 9.5% to 399,875,000 from 442,010,000, while ASMs decreased by 8.0% from 555,719,000 last May to 511,398,000 in May this year. The load factor thus fell by 1.3 pp from 79.5% in May 2008 to 78.2% this year. Pinnacle carried 920,788 passengers in May 2009, a fall of 0.8% from last May's figure of 928,623.
Pinnacle reports its total passengers, RPMs and load factor each month, even though fluctuations do not affect revenues received under capacity purchase agreements with Delta Air Lines, its mainline partner.
The average length of a Pinnacle flight was 426 statute miles compared to 466 statute miles in April 2008, and 425 statute miles compared to 471 statute miles in May 2008.
