US Airways has reported combined January 2009 traffic figures for Piedmont Airlines and PSA Airlines, its two wholly-owned subsidiaries which operate under the US Airways Express banner.

Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) totalled 146 million, a 6.7% decrease from last January’s figure of 157 million. Capacity dropped by 4.1% from 267 million available seat miles (ASMs) to 256 million. This resulted in a load factor decrease of 1.5 percentage points from 58.7% to 57.2%.

Total passengers carried numbered 547,515, compared with 568,654 in January 2008, a 3.7% decrease.

The figures do not include any of the independent carriers which operate as US Airways Express under capacity purchase agreements.
