Piedmont Airlines, PSA Airlines traffic as US Airways Express released

US Airways has announced December 2008 and full-year traffic figures for the combined US Airways Express operations of its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Piedmont Airlines and PSA Airlines.
 
In December, 602,492 passengers were carried, a 5.2% increase on December 2007's figure of 572,545. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) grew 4.3% to 164,209,000 from 157,471,000 over the period, while available seat miles (ASMs) dropped by 0.7% from 256,241,000 to 257,962,000. The load factor for the month was 64.1%, a rise of 3.1 percentage points (pp) over December 2007's 61.0%.
          
For the whole of 2008, RPMs were 2,170,026,000, down 5.0% from 2,284,736,000 in 2007. ASMs dropped by 1.8% from 3,244,253,000 to 3,302,582,000. The load factor for 2008 was 66.9%, a fall of 2.3pp from 69.2% in 2007. Passengers carried by the two airlines totalled 7,839,734, down from 8,185,263 in 2007, a 4.2% decrease.
