Pegasus Airlines has taken delivery of its fifth new generation Boeing 737-800, having increased its order from 12 to 24 in 2008. With the addition of the 189-seater, the Pegasus fleet now stands at 24, including the fleet of IZair, sister company to Pegasus.

This new addition of the 737-800 brings Pegasus closer towards having largest fleet of any privately owned airline in Turkey.

The plane is named after Pegasus captain Doğan Susin’s daughter Selin. Naming planes after new born daughters of Pegasus employees is now a company tradition. Selin’s maiden commercial flight was operated to Bodrum earlier this week.

Pegasus Airlines’ general manager Sertaç Haybat has declared the airline's satisfaction with the performance, value and Boeing’s support for the 737 series. “Our guests are extremely happy with the comfort provided by the Boeing 737 series. By the end of 2009, Pegasus, together with IZair, will have a fleet of 24 aeroplanes. In 2015, this number will have risen to 43,” reported Haybat.
