PARIS 2009: Superjet adds 24 firm orders and another LoI
The Sukhoi Superjet 100 has received 24 firm orders from Russian lessor Avialeasing plus a Letter of Intent for two firm and two options from Spanish carrier Gadair.
The SSJ100 now has 122 firm orders, well on the way to the target of 150 by the year-end announced by Sukhoi Holding Company president, Mikhail Pogosyan.
Meanwhile, Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC) president, Victor Soubbotin, gave an update on the programme. Aircraft serial number (S/N) 950004, destined to be the third flight test aeroplane, has its engines mounted and is in the final assembly shop. “This will be a full replica of a standard configuration aircraft with a full interior,” he noted.
“S/N 95005, the fourth flight test aircraft is also in final assembly, with systems installation and wiring completed and 95007 – the first production aircraft – has its fuselage and wing mated,” Soubbottin continued. “Airframe S/N 95006 will be heading to the Siberian test facility, SibNIA, for fatigue test in November this year.”
The aircraft the company has been showing at LeBourget will go straight from Paris for hot-and-high tests in Armenia.
Western marketing and global aftermarket and training partner, Superjet International (SJI), is preparing to accept the first aircraft for a western customer at its Venice facility in the second half of 2010.
According to its CEO, Alessandro Franzoni, SJI is also benchmarking its customer service programmes against those of the competition with the intent of being able to provide a superior service. “We are working under the mantra ‘Airlines fly, we care’,” he commented.
