PARIS 2009: Positive MJET reports brisk show traffic
Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation (MJET) has reported strong interest in its MRJ programme at Le Bourget, with president Hideo Egawa saying that the number of potential customers passing through the company’s chalet being “above and beyond what we expected”.
MJET senior vice-president, Yosuke Takegawa, was pressed on how long it would take for the company to become concerned about no sales to add to ANA’s launch order. “I just cannot picture that we cannot sell this aircraft. We have new generation technologies which no-one else is offering to the market,” he responded, before quipping with a smile, “If I don’t sell it, I’m out of a job.”
Takegawa noted that the Joint Definition Phase is proceeding towards design freeze by the end of the year. The process has been helped by meetings of the Airline Advisory Group. “I can’t reveal which airlines are represented, but there around 10 at each meeting and they are well-known names.”
