PARIS 2009: Avianova A320s to be supported by Sabena technics
Sabena technics has signed a 5-year contract with new Russia low-fare carrier Avianova, to perform full support services on its A320 fleet.
Sabena technics will provide Avianova with aircraft maintenance services, including line maintenance at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport, component support as well as repair and pool access, engineering and logistic support through its integrated services department, a specialised division in charge of full support contracts.
Sabena technics has been selected as Avianova's new maintenance partner and will accompany Avianova in its development, building a fleet of 40 A320s over the next five years by offering ultra low fares in the domestic Russian market. The carrier has been launched by Russia's A1 investment company, Alfa, together with US investment firm Indigo Partners (which has investments in Tiger Airways, Wizz Air and Spirit Airlines) as a response to market demands in Russia.
“One of our fundamental principles is safety. We believe that choosing Sabena technics as a technology partner and the signing of a long-term partnership agreement will help us to implement our business strategy as effectively as possible,” commented Vladimir Gorbunov, Avianova general manager.
