In a signing ceremony at Le Bourget, Viking Air finalised an agreement with Altenrhein Aviation of Switzerland to be the OEM’s first Factory Endorsed Service Centre (FESC) for the Twin Otter Series of aircraft.

The agreement authorises Altenrhein Aviation to provide OEM-backed support services for the Twin Otter programme with respect to maintenance, warranty work, and Viking recognised modifications. Altenrhein will be responsible for maintaining a high level of customer service, to standards set forth by Viking.

Viking’s president and CEO, David Curtis (left in pic) and Friedrich Gothsche, CEO and accountable manager for Altenrhein Aviation (right in pic), were on hand to execute the agreement. “Viking recognises that Altenrhein Aviation has provided high quality Twin Otter support activities in the past, and is looking forward to further enhancing those services through a strong relationship with the OEM,” remarked Curtis. “As we begin to deliver new Twin Otters, having partners such as Altenrhein Aviation will be absolutely critical to our customer’s long term success with the type.”

“Altenrhein Aviation has been maintaining this type for many years,” added Gothsche, “and brings a skilled work force and a reputation for Swiss quality to the Viking FESC programme, to represent the OEM in Switzerland and throughout the aviation community.”

The FESCs are part of Viking’s ATLAS (Aircraft Technical Liaison And Support) programme, designed to ensure owners and operators of the legacy de Havilland aircraft and new Twin Otter Series 400 receive high-quality service and support recognised by the OEM.

Viking is expecting to announce an additional five FESCs globally over the course of the next year as Twin Otter Series 400 production progresses and customer deliveries commence later this year.
