Panasonic MPES broadcast IFE for SilkAir

Singapore-based regional carrier SilkAir has selected Panasonic’s MPES (Multiplexed Passenger Entertainment System) broadcast IFE for installation on twelve Airbus A320-family aircraft.

Singapore Airlines’ regional subsidiary, SilkAir operates a total of 15 A320-family aircraft and has 11 A320-200s on order. MPES is to be installed in A319s and A320s. “MPES is part of the suite of new cabin features that is being rolled out on our fleet,” says SilkAir chief executive Chin Yau Seng.

The airline currently offers digEcor digEplayer handheld IFE on its routes from Singapore to China, India, the Philippines, Indonesia, Nepal and Taiwan. The players are available free of charge in business class and can be rented in economy. Content comprises ten films, seven television programmes and hours of music.
