Nantes Atlantique Airport wins the Civil Defence Award 2009 in the Vital Infrastructure Operator category
Nantes Atlantique Airport is this year’s unanimous winner of the Vital Infrastructure Operator award, a trophy for which various vital infrastructure operators compete - for example, certain hospitals or nuclear plants.
This award recognises:
• the quality and pertinence of actions implemented on the platform;
• the significance and variety of challenges, of a financial, environmental, economic or territorial nature, as well as the number of potential victims; and
• the provision of a pragmatic rather than a conceptual response to crisis management, illustrated in particular by on-site exercises integrating unforeseen circumstances, responsive solutions to the need for additional catering and accommodation, and platform organisation in the event of a crisis.
Nantes Atlantique Airport is particularly proud to have been distinguished nationally among the major enterprises, operators of important infrastructure and vital services, administrative authorities, public bodies and local authorities with whom it was competing for this second presentation of the prize.
According to François Marie, Director of Nantes Atlantique Airport: “This award firstly recognises the professionalism of all the staff operating on the platform on a daily basis. It also acknowledges the ability of Nantes - Saint-Nazaire CCI, which runs the airport, to mobilise and coordinate their activities across the board under extreme conditions. This extensive mobilisation, which extends far beyond specialists in health, safety and security, has been shown to be one of our strong points. And it is finally a reflection of the airport’s capacity to anticipate crisis situations and thus to help make the platform an extremely safe place for passengers on a daily basis.”
Nantes Atlantique Airport takes the crown from the company Suez, winner in 2007.
