Merger takes Vueling monthly passengers past 1m for first time
Vueling has announced that it increased its passenger traffic by 79.8% following its merger with clickair. The Spanish airline carried a record 1.12 million passengers during July, during which it ratified the merger.
Revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs) generated increased by 73.2% to 998,980,000 from 576,887,000, with capacity, in available seat kilometres (ASKs) growing by 72.0% to 1,283,014,000 from 746,054,000 in July 2008.
The load factor for July 2009 was 77.9%, an increase of 0.6 percentage points from the 77.3% in July last year. Passengers carried during July numbered 1,117,581, the merger helping to add 79.8% to July 2008's figure of 621,729.
With the fleet growing from 19 aircraft in July 2008 to 35 aircraft this July, the number of flights went up from 4,544 to 8,201.
While the operating integration took place on 9 July and the merger was formally ratified on 15 July, the above data incorporates Vueling and clickair’s joint traffic as of 1 July 2009.
