Lufthansa Technik to overhaul JetBlue A320 thrust reversers
Lufthansa Technik Tulsa has been awarded a 10-year, multimillion-dollar contract to overhaul thrust reversers on a scheduled removal programme on JetBlue Airways' complete fleet of Airbus A320s equipped with V2500 powerplants.
After completing a certain amount of cycles, the thrust reversers will be dismantled and shipped to Tulsa, where they will be overhauled. From minor structural repairs to the reskinning of complete assemblies, Lufthansa Technik Tulsa will take care of nearly every aspect of the thrust reverser's composite structure. Preventive measures to further strengthen it and improve its stability are also undertaken in Tulsa.
The agreement also includes the repair and overhaul of thrust reversers which unexpectedly have to be replaced, for example in case of ramp damage. This inclusion of unscheduled events in the overhaul contract gives JetBlue the full planning reliability it needs for its operations. Based on these principles the contract follows last year's successful partnership between JetBlue Airways and Lufthansa Technik Tulsa to support the nacelles of the same fleet.
