London City departure lounge refurbishment complete
A month ahead of schedule, and on budget, the refurbishment of the departure lounge at London City Airport has been completed. The £1.5 million project complements the extension of the departure lounge that was completed in May 2008.
Designed to establish a sense of calm and relaxation, combined with the functionality expected by the airport’s core business traveller, the departure lounge has 17% more seating, as well as improved restroom facilities and new climate control systems.
Melanie Burnley, director terminal services, commented, "The full refurbishment of our departure lounge has been warmly welcomed by our regular passengers. The creation of more space and additional seating has brightened up the lounge and brings the terminal in line with passenger expectations. We continue to listen to what passengers want and this is demonstrated in the excellent feedback we receive on a regular basis."
By observing the needs of passengers, London City Airport has configured the departure lounge with numerous laptop plug-in points and complimentary Wi-Fi access. The lounge offers passengers an uncluttered environment where they can continue to work using smartphone devices or laptops, or relax in tranquility with the ‘silent departure lounge' policy of no tannoy announcements or boarding calls.
