Australian low-fare airline Jetstar is expanding its operations in Perth with the start on 6 February of a new daily service to Adelaide and introduction of a three-times weekly direct Perth–Cairns service.
Jetstar now operates 38 domestic and international services from Perth each week with Airbus A320s, including double daily services to Melbourne, daily to Singapore, four times weekly to Bali (Denpasar) and a three times weekly to Jakarta.
“In the last 12 months, Perth for Jetstar has grown from a single route to Melbourne to becoming an integral part of our domestic network and our Pan Asian short haul strategy,” Jetstar chief executive officer, Bruce Buchanan, explained. “Jetstar is a growth vehicle for the Qantas Group as one of two future flying brands and with our entry onto the Perth–Cairns route through replacing previous Qantas operations, we’ve been able to expand overall Group capacity by almost 60% on this air market.”
