JetBlue reports traffic for June and first half of 2009

JetBlue Airways has announced that its traffic in June decreased by 3.3% from June 2008, on a capacity decrease of 0.1%.

The figures involved showed that revenue passenger miles (RPMs) fell to 2,227,715,000 from 2,304,636,000, the aforementioned 3.3% decrease. The 0.1% capacity drop saw the available seat miles (ASMs) decrease to 2,772,738,000 ini June 2009 from 2,774,456,000 in June 2008.

Load factor for June 2009 was 80.3%, a decrease of 2.8 percentage points (pp) from June 2008's 83.1%. Revenue passengers carried totalled 1,907,393, a 0.6% decrease on June 2008's figure of 1,896,582.

JetBlue's preliminary passenger revenue per available seat mile (RASM) for June decreased by 12% year-over-year.

In the first half of 2009 (1H09), RPMs fell by 5.5% to 12,585,456,000 from 13,319,161,000 in the fiirst half of last year. ASMs were cut by 3.6% to 16,178,938,000 from 16,777,916,000 for the respective periods.

Consequently the load factor went down by 1.6 pp in 1H09 to 77.8% from 1H08's load factor of 79.4%. Revenue passengers carried decreased by 1.6% to 10,981,852 in 1H09, compared with the 11,155,184 passengers carried in 1H08.
