Jet Aviation bags first A350 completions

3rd October 2008 - 01:00 GMT | by The Shephard News Team

SWITZERLAND’S Jet Aviation Basel has won the first contract for VIP completions of the Airbus A350 new-generation long-range twin. The company has signed  letters of intent covering a pair of A350-900s, one belonging to C Jet of Hong Kong, the other to an unnamed Asian owner.

Jet Aviation will also design the luxury interiors for the aircraft, which are scheduled to arrive in Basel in 2014 and 2015. The work is expected to take 18 months for each aircraft, both of which will be operated on behalf of their owners by Hong Kong-based BAA Jet Management.

With offices in Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Beijing, BAA Jet Management specialises in aircraft charter and management, flight support services, aircraft sales and acquisition.

The work on the A350s will be carried out in the new widebody hangar that Jet Aviation opened earlier this year. The building is large enough to accommodate an A380 and a Boeing 747-8 at the same time.

Meantime, Jet Aviation subsidiary Midcoast Aviation has just opened a new narrowbody hangar, its largest ever facility. The St Louis, Missouri-based company built the 146,000 sq ft hangar in 14 months at a total cost of $18.5 million.
