Japan Air Lines' subsidiary, J-AIR, has signed a 10-year OnPoint agreement with GE Aviation for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of its new CF34-8E engines powering 10 Embraer 170s. Deliveries of the E-170s to the airline began in 2008.

“We have recently introduced the E-170 into our operations, and are focussing heavily on its performance as it will become key to J-AIR’s main fleet,” said Yoshihiro Watanabe, managing director – maintenance department of J-AIR. “Therefore, the reliability of its engines is very important. J-AIR strongly expects GE Aviation to perform outstanding and economical maintenance, repair, and overhaul for our CF34s.”

“We have provided a similar maintenance programme for their CF34-3B fleet since 2002 and this new programme will further enhance our relationship with J-AIR," said Huntley Myrie, general manager, Small Commercial Engine Services at GE Aviation.
