Horizon Air increases June load factor

Horizon Air has announced its traffic figures for June 2009 and for the first half of the year.

Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) numbered 226 million, down 9.2% from June 2008's 248 million. Capacity in available seat miles (ASMs), however, was cut by 10.8% from 319 million to 284 million, leading to an increase in load factor to 79.4%, up 1.4 percentage points (pp) from the 78.0% achieved in June 2008. The total passengers carried in June 2009 was 608,000, a 10.3% decrease on the 678,000 carried last June.

For the first half of 2009 (1H09), Horizon recorded 1,133 million RPMs, a drop of 16.3% on 1H08's figure of 1,353 million. ASMs were down by 14.4% from 1,886 million in 1H08 to 1,615 million in 1H09. The resultant load factor for 1H09 was 70.2%, 1.5pp below the 1H08 figure of 71.7%. The airline carried 3,240,000 in 1H09, 13.9% below the 3,765,000 carried in the respective period last year.
