GOL traffic figures released for May 2009
GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes has announced its preliminary traffic figures for May 2009 showing a year-on-year 7.5 percentage point decrease in load factor.
GOL did, however, record its third successive monthly upturn in demand across its consolidated route network during May.
Revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs) for the month were 1,908.5 million, down 19.3% on May 2008's figure of 2,363.7 million. Capacity, in available seat kilometres, was cut by 8.9% to 3,293.8 million from 3,613.6 million last May.
As a result, the load factor for May was 57.9%, a decrease of 7.5 percentage points on the 65.4% in the same month last year.
GOL’s net yield in May remained above the 19.43 cents (R$) recorded in 2Q08, but well below the 23.27 cents (R$) registered in FY2008. In the first two months of 2Q09, yield was slightly below, but very close to, the 21.93 cents (R$) recorded in 1Q08.
