Frontier and Lynx report January 2009 traffic
Frontier Airlines Holdings has announced preliminary traffic results for January 2009 for both its mainline operation as well as its wholly-owned subsidiary, Lynx Aviation.
Mainline Frontier Airlines results showed that revenue passenger miles (RPMs) decreased by 16.0% to 632,946,000 while capacity, measured by available seat miles (ASMs), was down 13.3% to 901,369,000 from the same period last year. This resulted in a load factor of 70.2%, a decrease of 2.3 percentage points over January 2008.
The airline reported passenger yield of 10.44 cents, up 0.16 cents or 1.6% from January 2008. Passenger unit revenue fell by 1.7% to 7.33 cents. The airline carried 696,445 passengers, down 8.7% on the same period last year.
Lynx Aviation's RPMs for January 2009 totalled 22,033,000 with ASMs at 45,852,000. This resulted in a load factor of 48.1%. The turboprop operator carried 64,472 passengers, with a passenger yield of 22.79 cents. Passenger revenue per available seat mile was 10.95 cents.
