EMS Sky Connect, a division of EMS Technologies, reports that its Forté inflight phone has received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the US Federal Aviation Administration. The STC authorises installation of the phone system on Gulfstream IV aircraft.

The Forté phone system delivers full inflight functionality, including e-mail access, for less than $20,000. “There is an undeniable market need for an affordable and feature-rich flight phone,” said Wiley Loughran, EMS Sky Connect’s senior vice-president of sales and marketing. “We are meeting that need with the right product during these challenging financial times.”

Forté’s features and benefits include: global coverage through the Iridium network; full capabilities from ramp parking to cruising altitudes; and high-quality communications, including access to e-mail, in the cockpit and in the cabin.

The Forté system also features a variety of dialling options, including compact wireless handsets, integrated cockpit headset diallers, and standard corded handsets featuring noise cancellation and audio clarity.
