Business and leisure travellers are set to be offered even more choice to Aberdeen as Eastern Airways introduces five flights each weekday from Southampton International Airport.

The regional airline, which is consistently rated one of the UK’s best on-time performers, according to FLIGHTONTIME.info, will increase services from three to five flights each weekday on the route from 6 July 2009 to meet the requirements of travellers.

This latest introduction follows the recent announcement that the operator will be starting its first services from Southampton to Liverpool on 6 July 2009 with three flights each weekday in both directions.

Weekday flights to Aberdeen will depart from Southampton at 9.30am, 3pm, 4.25pm, 5.50pm and 7.05pm, arriving at 11.50am, 5.50pm, 7.10pm, 8.40pm and 9.20pm. Services leave Aberdeen at 6.40am, 12.40pm, 2.30pm, 4.25pm and 7.35pm, landing in Southampton at 9am, 3.30pm, 5.20pm, 6.40pm and 9.10pm.

Chris Holliday, Eastern Airways’ chief operating officer, said: “Our services between Southampton and Aberdeen have proven extremely popular, and we’re increasing the number of flights on the route to meet demand. With Aberdeen being one of Europe’s busiest oil centres, there have been strong industry links in the energy sector between both regions for many years, and our new schedules are tailored to suit business and leisure travellers’ needs.”

Southampton Airport’s director of marketing and communications, Jan Halliday, said: “We welcome even more choice for passengers travelling between Southampton and Aberdeen. In addition to the oil industry links, the Hampshire and south coast region has, for many years, had important maritime links with north-east Scotland.”

Check-in is just 30 minutes before the departure time, and fast-track security channels at Southampton and Aberdeen airports allow Eastern Airways’ passengers to avoid any queues.

As well as launching new services to Liverpool from Southampton, the airline is introducing a new early-morning departure from Southampton to Newcastle next month and also flies to Leeds Bradford.
