Combined June and 1H09 traffic released for SkyWest Airlines and ASA

SkyWest, Inc. has announced traffic data for June and the first half of 2009 for its wholly-owned subsidiaries SkyWest Airlines and Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA).

The pair reported a 4.9% increase in revenue passenger miles (RPMs) for June, rising to 1,628,141,622 from 1,551,641,063. Available seat miles (ASMs) also increased, by 1.9%, to 1,978,187,920 from 1,940,396,632 compared to the same period last year.

Load factor for the combined airlines was up 2.3 percentage points (pp) to 82.3% compared to 80.0% for the same month last year. Passenger boardings for June totalled 3,214,410, a 5.0% increase from June 2008's 3,061,417.

For the first half of 2009 (1H09), RPMs fell by 4.2% to 8,324,450,532 from 8,690,792,703. Capacity, however, dropped by 5.1% from 11,296,537,952 ASMs to 10,717,584,956, leading to a slight increase in load factor for 1H09 of 77.7%, up 0.8 pp from 76.9% in 1H08.

The number of passengers carried decreased by 2.1% to 16,518,573 in 1H09 from 1H08's figure of 16,871,066.
