Colgan Air, Inc releases April, May performance data

Pinnacle Airlines Corporation has released capacity and operational results for its Colgan Air, Inc subsidiary for April and May 2009.

Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) grew significantly (by 26.0%) to 52,466,000 from 41,655,000 in April 2008, while for the same respective months, available seat miles (ASMs) rose by 14.6% to 88,935,000 from 77,571,000. This led to a load factor increase of 5.3 percentage points (pp) from 53.7% in April 2008 to 59.0% in April of this year. The total passengers carried during April 2009 was 223,857, a 14.8% increase from last year's figure of 194,936.

In May 2009, RPMs were up 6.1% to 54,961,000 from 51,808,000, while ASMs decreased by 2.1% from 91,683,000 last May to 89,749,000 in May this year. The load factor thus increased by 4.7 pp from 56.5% in May 2008 to 61.2% this year. Colgan carried 236,520 passengers in May 2009, a rise of 3.8% from last May's figure of 227,782.

The average length of a Colgan flight was 221 statute miles compared to 203 statute miles in April 2008, and 219 statute miles compared to 211 statute miles in May 2008.
